 Shonen Anime Characters in a nutshell 

Shonen are the most common and popular genre of anime. It generally follows the adventure of a main character (MC) who wants to achieve a goal. Along the way they meet with many other characters and in the end defeats the main villain of the series. In short most anime have a similar plot and character types. And that's what our today's topic is about. Today we will look at the common character types in a anime and I will call it "Shonen Anime characters in a nutshell". 

So let's begin...

1. Typical shonen protagonist 

Every shonen starts with a typical protagonist who is very cheerful, energetic, likes challenges and so on. They have a goal to achieve and makes a lot of friends and enemies along the way. They generally have a low IQ but when I comes to fighting, they become super smart and at the end of the series they become the strongest character of the series and saves the world. 

2. MC's Rival 

Every anime protagonist have a rival who becomes his best friend at the end. That rival is stronger then the MC and MC hates him for his attitude. A typical rival also remain calm at every point and have a higher IQ then the protagonist.

3. The Glasses Guy 

I don't know if you noticed or not but many anime have a guy with glasses who is super intelligent and acts cool. They always tighten their glasses whenever they give some information to anyone. When they tighten their glasses then their glasses suddenly reflects light like you are seeing in the pictures.

 

4. Mr. Badass  

Then comes a badass character who don't take a shit from anyone. These characters remain calm all the time and have an answer of every question asked. They only mind their own business and if they got angry then they will pound there enemies. They are often the most liked characters of the series.

 

5. Some useless characters 

Now let's talk about Sakuras oh! Sorry I mean let's talk about useless characters. In every anime there are some characters who are just of no use. They are created due to many reasons like- 

(1) To be saved by main characters.

(2) for creating a crowd and wasting our time.

(3) To introduce a new character so that he could demonstrate his powers on them. 

(4) Comedy 

(5) character development

(6) unknown Reasons (For example:- Reason for Tenten's creation is yet to be revealed).

6. An Explainer 

Suppose a fight is going on and MC is in trouble. He is about to die but suddenly he escapes the situation and beat his opponent. Now you are thinking, "How it happened?" At that point of time explainer enters the show to explain the situation. An Explainer is the one who explains us what just happened. They are generally present in every anime to intrupte us between the fight scenes. They generally have high IQ and always believe in protagonist's ability.

7. Villian who doesn't kill the MC in first encounter. 

These type of villians appear early on the series when protagonists doesn't have a lot powers. These villians are really strong but they make biggest mistake of their life by letting protagonist to live. They spare the life of the protagonist at their first fight for dumb reason and later got beaten by him.

8. Miss fan service  

It's a bitter truth, we expect good story in ecchi animes and ecchi scenes in a good story. Now let's talk about Miss fan service, these are those female characters who make no impact on the story and are created for ecchi scenes only. They got usual body figures with extra impact of gravity on them (if you know what I mean;)). 

 

9. A pervert

A pervert in a shonen is very common. Mostly these perverts are really strong and women are there only weaknesses. They are really funny and are the main source of comedy. Thanks to them we also got to see some really amazing stuffs in the anime. 

10. Types of Villian 

A long running shonen has many villians but we can categories them like this-

(1). A pawn. 

As the title suggests, a pawn is not really a Villian they were just following the orders of their superiors. But reasons for following orders can be different. In the end they usually get betrayed and end up dying.

(2). Psycho Maniacs. 

These guys are maniac. They perform evil activities for dumb reason. In short they perform evil activities for their own satisfaction.

(3). The Vengeful. 

Vengeful is a person who seeks revenge and many anime characters turn bad only to get revenge for mistreating him or his loved ones. 

(4). Created by society. 

These type of characters are not bad but situation make them do bad things. You can say that these type of characters aren't born, they are made by society. 

(5). And one who wants to destroy world for absolutely no reason. 

It is a typical villian type. You can find these kind of villians in almost every medium. These guys either just wants to rule over entire world or simply wanna destroy it.
