 Is Hunter x Hunter Good? 

Is Hunter x Hunter good anime? Is Hunter x Hunter worth watching? To know the answer let's dive into our small but very informative review. Hunter x hunter is an ongoing anime which means it hasn't end and there is more to adapt and after the hint give by the author in the Twitter, it is assuming that soon it will be continuing so it's a great time for those who are waiting for it finish. 

If you don't know then hunter x hunter is an anime created in 1999 and then got a remake in 2011 by studio madhouse along with two movies and it's been almost 2 decades since the anime got any new addition or episodes which also spread the rumour that Hunter x Hunter is never going to end but now it looks possible so tighten your seat belts because fans going to have some pretty good time. 

So without wasting any time let's begin our review- 

Plot 

The story focuses on a young boy named Gon Freecss who discovers that his father, who left him at a young age, is actually a world-renowned Hunter, a licensed professional who specializes in fantastical pursuits such as locating rare or unidentified animal species, treasure hunting, surveying unexplored enclaves, or hunting down lawless individuals. Gon departs on a journey to become a Hunter and eventually find his father. Along the way, Gon meets various other Hunters and encounters the paranormal. 

The above you read is a small summary of the story which is very decent so let's review it on the basis of other categories. 

Animation 

Starting off with animation cause that's the first thing that comes in mind while watching an action anime. Hunter x Hunter anime is animated by studio madhouse so there aren't any complaints at all. Every character in 2011's version just look better than in 1999. Apo from that studio has also worked in presentation of scenes although there are many major fight scenes in the series. But overall there is no complain over animation and you will love it that's for sure.

Music 

The series started with an amazing opening that is perfect for creating hype but unfortunately that's the only opening we ever got in the whole series. The anime only used one opening throughout the whole 148 episodes with just little change in lyrics. The OSTs in the series are good and fits with the situation but none of them are catchy but endings are great. Hunter x hunter is one of the anime that has better ending songs then openings. It has total 6 endings and all are very enjoyable specially ending 2 and my favourite ending 3. Overall the series has done some work on the music. It's opening was amazing but due to being repeated throughout the series makes its a bit less intresting but due to ending 2 and 3 it got respect so overall it is decent. 

Score:- 6/10 

Pacing 

The series starts with an amazing first arc with everything in balanced amount and remain consistent till episode 25 and then series becomes little slow and boring till episode 40 and as soon as new arc started, it gets super intresting again till the end of the arc but again when new arc started it becomes slow and boring again if you know then I am talking about greed island arc. A new arc starts at episode 76 called chimera ants arc and continues till episode 136 making it the longest arc of the series with 60 episodes out of which 40 episodes are super super super slow and almost 15 episodes are good and remaining 5 are awesome. After that series enters into its final arc which has 12 episodes. The final arc doesn't have anything fascinating except the last few episodes which are very enjoyable and beautifully created. Now, decide yourself how it's pacing is. For me it was bad. It's like watching 100 boring episodes for 50 good ones.  

Score:- 3/10 

Dubbing quality 

I watched the series in English dub and I totally loved it and recommend you to watch it in English too. Character voices defines there character perfectly hence there isn't any point that I could cut

Best points about the Hunter x Hunter anime series

Let's take a look at some of the best thing hunter x hunter has to offer-

Good characters

The series showcased some really amazing characters. Every character has its own motives and agendas.

Balanced characters

The anime has so many characters of different power levels but still it is balanced. A 12 year old boy can't beat an experienced elite hunter just through training all day also saving the world is not a job of some group of teenagers instead real pros deal with it. Till the very end the main characters aren't even close to the strongest characters making it a different anime from the rest. 

Lot of emotions

From comic reliefs to dark storylines, from tears of happiness to tears of sadness, hunter x hunter has every emotion needed. The series has lot of emotion making it a rememberable anime. 

Great antagonists 

The series features some of the best villians of all time. It has an amazing villinou group named Phantom troops. From psychos like hisoka to super deep villians like krollo and Meruem. You just can't hate it's villians. 

Well created universe 

Universe of hunter x hunter is very well created. Not just that, it's power system is also very detailed and makes a lot more sense. 

Unpredictable storyline 

First quality of a good story is that its unpredictable and hunter x hunter's story is a perfect example for that.

Worst things about Hunter x Hunter anime

Now let's talk about things that I personally didn't like about the series-

Slow pacing

The series doesn't remain consistent with its pacing some times it goes smoothly but many times it just goes very slow especially in chimera ant arc where it's pacing goes down so badly that it becomes very annoying. 

Too many characters 

ln every new arc series introduces new characters and as time pass they just disappear. This gives rise to so many useless characters and poor character developments. 

Complex power system

The series has very detailed and unique power system but it's just too much to remember. 

Under utilised characters

As I already said, the series contains some really amazing characters but many of them aren't that well used. There are many characters whose full potential is yet to be revealed.  

Conclusion 

Now let's give a final conclusion to our review. The anime is one of the highest rated anime on IMDB with impressive ratings of 9.1/10 but is it worth that rating? Maybe cause from my opinion, HxH is over rated or maybe I am saying so cause I expected a lot from the series so don't expect much from the series and then watch it. Will I recommend it to you? Not strongly but yes. And our final question, Is it hunter x hunter good? Yes it is. It has many things that inspired other creators and it's unique storyline makes it unique. Overall it is a good anime with amazing storyline but slow pacing.
